5.0 out of 5 stars Great features, a great option if you don't want a D-SLR, May 8, 2008

This review is from: Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Electronics)
Was considering upgrading to a D-SLR type camera from my typical point-and-shoot camera, but I have to admit I was intimidated by price and complexity. I found the Fujifilm S8100fd to be the perfect blend of advanced features, price and complexity level. I wanted something that had a good telephoto/zoom lens and this one is awesome. The stability really helps keep things from being blurry and the advanced modes (multi-shot, movie, flash and no flash at same time [sounds odd, read the manual]) are really cool. This camera helps me take better pictures in almost any scenario. Add in an 8GB SDHC card and you have the ability to store thousands of photos and hours of video. Love this camera!

This review is from: Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Electronics)
I've had the camera for about a month now. I would consider myself a very amateur photographer. But I love this camera. It's more than a point and shoot but not quite a DSLR, I'd call it an advanced Digital camera. It can be used as a point and shoot but I think as your experience grows with the camera, the functionality and use of the camera becomes one of its greatest strengths.

The only con I have is minor. The face detection function doesn't seem to trigger as often as I think it would (considering 90% of my photos are of my baby son) and often the detection picks up things that aren't . . . well faces.

Other than this, it's a great camera. Even the video capture is impressive. Highly recommended to those who want more than a point and shoot but don't want to commit to the more expensive DSLR cameras.

This review is from: Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Electronics)
We have had a Fuji S5000 for about 4 years, shot over 18,000 pictures with the camera. We shoot pictures of our daughters softball, 5 sequential shots at a time. It really adds up on the picture count, of course we don't save all of those pictures. You always get at least one good one out of five. Wanted to replace the old S5000, internal battery backup had died. When you replace the batteries, had to reset the time, date, etc.
Did a lot of research for a replacement and settled on the Fuji S8100fd. The two biggest reasons was: 1) Option for 7 Frames per Second or 16 Frames Per Second. 2) 18x Zoom.
We have been very, very, very pleased with the picture quality and the very high frame rate. It was a great purchase!
Cons: Cannot screw a filter on the end of the lens, that option has saved the lens on the S5000. We do not like the lens sticking out, ie not protected like the S5000. Will have to be a lot more careful with the S8100fd.
Would buy it again! Great... Read more

OK, I bought this off eBay and paid $38 + $7 shipping. I should have looked it up on Amazon. I paid too much. Stupid me.

So, I was looking through eBay about a month ago, and I came across this interesting little gem.

.42x Wide Macro Fisheye lens for NIKON

This isn't what I would call a serious lens. If you want a good Fisheye, you are going to pay $$$ for it. This is more of a novelty lens. It doesn't even attach to your camera--you screw it onto an existing lens like you might a filter. They claimed 8 element optics--yeah right. The "MACRO" option was just an extension tube with the word "MACRO" printed on it. I mean, it works, but I'd hardly call that a feature.

Anyway, I took it for a test spin. I screwed it onto a 35mm Tokina Macro lens. The pictures are fun. I put the images on Facebook. You can view them even if you aren't on Facebook, assuming Amazon lets me post the link:... Read more

I ordered this lens as a temporary thing until I saved up enough money to buy a real lens, not an attatcment. Upon opening the package I realized that it did not fit my d3000's kit lens. There is an adaptor ring in the package that is required to make it fit 18-55 mm lenses. The lens itself works well, but when using it their is a definite shadow in my photos because the flash isn't powerful enough. I'd recomend buying a slave flash or a nikon sb400 before purchasing this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great first fisheye lens., December 27, 2010
This review is from: PLR 0.42x HD Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens For The Nikon D5000, D3000, D3200, D5100, D3100, D7000, D4, D800, D800E, D600, D40, D40x, D50, D60, D70, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D3, D3S, D700, Digital SLR Cameras Which Have Any Of These (18-55mm, 55-200mm, 50mm) Nikon Lenses (Electronics)
I receieved this lens as a gift, that being said.. I do think this is worth around 25-30 dollars if you can snag it at that price. The build of the lens is pretty solid, the macro and actual fisheye twist together well. The adapter is a bit of a different story, it fits well and correctly, it will sometimes get wound up tight on the macro and you will have to work with it a bit to get it off. It would not be an issue if the supplied lens cap fit with the adapter attached, but it only fits when the adapter is off. One other mild annoyance is that when using the built in camera flash there is a dark spot at the bottom of your photos as the lens eats a bit of the flash with its size. There is also an outside ring, that does seemingly nothing but allow the front lens cap to attach to the lens.. I am not sure why the manufacture chose to do this instead of making the cap just a bit smaller. Lastly, I use a Nikon D5000 incase anyone is also wondering.

♦ 1) Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II AF-S ED-IF Zoom-Nikkor Lens
♦ 2) Hoya 77mm HMC UV Digital Multi-Coated Filter
♦ 3) CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap
♦ 4) Precision Design Deluxe 6-Piece Lens & Digital SLR Camera Cleaning Kit

The Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens features an innovative Vibration Reduction (VR) system that allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions. The VR system minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 4 stops faster than what the camera is set for. This is the perfect lens for low-light, sports, fashion, portraits and other images that require distance between the photographer and subject.

This Hoya HMC UV Filter is a multi-purpose, fine-weather filter that is designed to optimize your photography experience. UV filters block out unwanted ultraviolet light and prevents the UV "fogging/haze" effect, which can result in inaccurate color and lower the apparent sharpness. This filter is also ideal for protecting your valuable lens from scratches and dust, and it can be kept on the lens at all times.

Keep your lens cap securely attached to your lens with the convenient, simple-to-use CapKeeper. Never lose a lens cap again!

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains everything you'll ever need to properly clean your lenses, including a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.

This is the best lense anyone can ever ask for. It gives you the perfect shot every time. You don't have to be a pro to use this lense. I'm able to take action photos in dim light, action photos in bright light, photos in about anywhere and they turn out perfect. One draw back is that I have to use a mono-pod all the time because it gets kinda heavy.
